A very familiar face throughout the COVID-19 pandemic is getting an award from a Louisville institution. Dr. Anthony Fauci will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Muhammad Ali Center.Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Chief Medical Advisor to the President. Fauci was named the award recipient for his work in those roles throughout the pandemic.Fauci will receive the award at the ninth annual Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards on Saturday, Nov. 5.The awards are the Ali Center's largest annual fundraiser and incorporate two categories: Seasoned Awards, honoring individuals who have dedicated a significant portion of their lives to humanitarianism and a host of philanthropic causes, and Six Core Principle Awards, presented to young adults 30 years of age or younger. World Central Kitchen, Louisville businesswoman Alice Houston and NBA player Malcolm Brogdon are also award recipients for 2022.CBS News' Michelle Miller will serve as the evening's emcee. Miller is currently the co-host of "CBS Saturday Morning."The Ali Center will hold public events surrounding the annual awards in order to involve the larger Louisville community.These events, called Days of Greatness, will be announced at a later time and take place on Nov. 4 and 5.
