WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Four Waterbury schools are operating under a shelter-in-place order on Tuesday following threats made to the schools.
Waterbury police said they are investigating a social media school threat involving Enlightenment School and Jonathan E. Reed Elementary School that was made on Monday evening.
A separate threat was also made to Crosby High School on Monday night as well.
As a precaution, police stated that these schools, including Wallace Middle School as it is attached to Crosby, will be operating under a shelter-in-place order.
All school activities will remain indoors throughout the day on Tuesday. Additionally, added police presence will be at each school to monitor for any signs of threats.
Despite the assurance of extra police on school campuses, parents still worry about their children being in school.
“We’re getting into a time where things are really bad in Waterbury,” said parent Nancy Rodriguez. “I’m scared for my son right now being in school. Because another threat, and you’re sending the kids to school? And I have to send him to school because he needs to learn. But I’m fearful. ”
Waterbury police said that this incident is still under investigation, and there is no further information regarding the threats at this time.
