UPDATE: EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Special Traffic Investigations unit is continuing to investigate yesterday’s traffic fatality. Yesterday at approximately 5:25hrs, as Jose Luis Pacheco traveled on Gateway North on a 1995 Nissan pick-up truck. His vehicle slowed down, drove off the roadway onto the rock landscape, and finally stopped after striking a traffic sign at a slow speed.
Good samaritans found the driver unconscious and contacted 911 for help. Mr. Pacheco was transported to a local hospital by fire medical services; however, Mr. Pacheco later died at the hospital.
The Medical Examiners’ office will also determine the cause of death and if the death will count towards a traffic fatality.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One person was killed in a single car crash Monday evening in Northeast El Paso.
The crash happened a little before 9 p.m. at Gateway North and Cohen. The police department’s Special Traffic Investigators, who look into crashes with fatalities or major injuries, are investigating.
