Jack Suwinski hit a two-run double during a four-run seventh as the Pittsburgh Pirates downed the visiting Cincinnati Reds 8-3 on Monday.

Kevin Newman and Ke’Bryan Hayes each added an RBI single for the Pirates (57-97).

Pittsburgh starter Roansy Contreras gave up two runs and two hits in four innings, with two strikeouts and no walks. Yohan Ramirez (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.

T.J. Friedl and Aristides Aquino homered for the Reds (60-94).

Cincinnati starter Chase Anderson pitched four-plus innings, allowing one run and four hits, with five strikeouts and no walks.

Derek Law (2-2) took the loss after giving up four runs in one-third of an inning.

In the first, Jonathan India doubled to center, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Kyle Farmer’s sacrifice fly to left for a 1-0 Cincinnati lead.

With two outs in the third, Friedl hit his eighth homer to make it 2-0.

There was a 38-minute rain delay in the middle of the fourth. Anderson remained in, while Contreras did not.

In the fifth, Newman singled to center, chasing Anderson. Reiver Sanmartin came in and walked Zack Collins. An out later, Oneil Cruz blooped a single to left. Friedl’s throw to third hit the bag for a throwing error, and Newman beat catcher Chuckie Robinson in a race to the plate to pull the Pirates within 2-1.

In the seventh, Cruz singled to left. After Bryan Reynolds struck out, Miguel Andujar, making his Pirates debut, singled to left. Suwinski then doubled to right-center, with Cruz and Andujar scoring for a 4-2 Pittsburgh lead.

Hayes got hit by a pitch and Cal Mitchell walked, loading the bases and bringing in Joel Kuhnel. Newman singled in Suwinski, and Hayes scored on Collins’ sacrifice fly to left to make it 6-2.

The Pirates tacked on two more in the eighth. Cruz got an infield single, went to third on Reynolds’ single to center and scored on Andujar’s sacrifice fly. An out later, Hayes drove in Reynolds with a single to right.

Aquino hit his 10th homer in the ninth to cap the scoring.
