Carjacker crashes vehicle into Queens KFC while fleeing arrest for robbing Rite Aid

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man crashed into a Queens KFC restaurant Monday while trying to escape police in a carjacked vehicle after robbing a Rite Aid store, authorities said.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. when cops were attempting to arrest the suspect at a Rite Aid on Union Turnpike and Parsons Boulevard in Kew Gardens for allegedly shoplifting over $1,000 in merchandise, police said.

While trying to flee from police, the man approached a driver on Parsons Boulevard and tried to carjack them, according to officials.

The driver put up a fight and a struggle ensued which led to the sedan being rammed into the KFC on Union Turnpike, cops said.

Both the driver and the suspect were taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Charges were still pending against the suspect. No one else was injured during the incident.
