The Arlington Police Department is mourning the death of one of its recruits.
Marquis Kennedy, 40, was taking part in a defensive tactics training exercise Sunday when he started feeling ill.
Kennedy was immediately removed from the exercise; and as he was sitting with a member of the training staff for further monitoring, he collapsed.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died.
Kennedy's exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
The department activated its peer support team for his fellow recruits and the training staff.
Funeral arrangements are still pending.
