TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Despite some rain last Friday, organizers say Terre Haute’s first-ever Balloon Fest was a success.
The event, which featured hot air balloons, took place Friday and Saturday at Terre Haute Regional Airport. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to Chances and Services for Youth.
CASY COO Brandon Halleck says they are still calculating the full amount raised but added that thousands of people came out to the event.
“Saturday night was perfect,” Halleck said. “Had 10 balloons lighting up the sky, great sunset, and just overall great feeling for the event for our first time putting something like this on. Between the music and the food trucks and the folks out there, we really think that we had anywhere between six, seven, eight thousand people out there Saturday.”
Halleck said much of the thanks should be directed to the folks who helped run the event.
“But really the volunteers that put this on, we can’t say enough for them and the committee that really put this forward,” Halleck said.
According to Halleck, the organization hopes to hold more hot air balloon festivals in the future.
