New York will debut its free weekend fall foliage shuttle service to help boost area tourism and ease congestion on popular leaf-peeping trails in the Adirondacks.The new shuttle service will take visitors from the Frontier Town Gateway to the Giant Mountain, Roaring Brook Falls, and Rooster Comb trailheads, as well as the Marcy Field Parking Area. The weekend shuttle service begins on Saturday, Oct. 1, and runs through the end of Columbus Day weekend. Shuttles are available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.The shuttle stops at the same places as the preexisting Route 73 Hiker Shuttle from Marcy Field.Officials said they hope the increased shuttle access will help alleviate unsafe and illegal parking in the Route 73 corridor during the fall foliage season.Dogs are not permitted on the shuttle.
