ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - The Angelina County Parks Department will be proposing the construction of a new building to commissioners court.

They are looking to add-on to Cassel - Boykins County Park.

Parks Director Jason Kartye said that the construction of the building has been part of their great master plan to improve the park. The parks department said the building will be used for office space and storage.

“We’ve basically grown to the point where we’re storing lawn mowers all over the county. I’ve got weed eaters. We basically only have one storage closet out there right now which is a janitor’s closet. Then we got all this extra equipment in so this is going to allow us to have room for this equipment and also have and office for me out there so I can be onsite on the park every day,” said Kartye.

The proposal is to allow the parks department to begin seeking bids for the construction.
