WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Mayors from across the region met in Wilkes-Barre on Monday to discuss common problems and issues facing their communities.
Mayor George Brown of Wilkes-Barre launched the get-togethers last year. The goal was to compare notes on common problems and possible common solutions.
“I think if people see we work together we can get a common goal to help each other with commonalities. Everybody has potholes, everybody has crime, everybody has homelessness. These are things we can work together on as a team,” said Wilkes-Barre Mayor, George Brown.
The mayor’s meeting started last year with five mayors. That number has now grown to 14. Collectively, they represent some two million people.
