There's been another shooting on the interstate in New Orleans.

It happened Sunday afternoon, shortly before 2:00pm.

Initially police did not report the shooting as having happened on the I-10, but today confirmed it did occur on the interstate.

"The location of occurrence is considered to be I-10 East exit at North Claiborne Avenue," Senior Public Information Officer Aaron Looney said in response to an email. "The location was determined upon further investigation."

The initial police report says the victim did not know who shot him.

"Suspect opened fire on victim and fled. Victim sustained gunshot wounds and was hospitalized."

It described the suspect as "unknown."

The suspect went to the emergency room after being shot.

"An adult male arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound," Officer Garry Flot said.

Detectives then had to determine where he was when he was shot.

NOPD has repeatedly insisted that evidence suggests the string of interstate shootings are not related and occur due to a variety of reasons including road rage, people with ongoing disputes and for other motives.

The police chief says there is not a serial I-10 shooter.
