Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The public comment period on Governor Glenn Youngkin's (R) re-write of the transgender model policy for schools has opened. The period will last for a month, and then the Youngkin policy will go into effect. You can add your comment here.

The Youngkin re-write is basically a reversal from the model policy instituted under Governor Ralph Northam (D). The new model policy, among other things, requires teachers use personal pronouns that match the official record, not a student's request. The Youngkin administration says the Northam Administration was trying to create social change.

A large number of the comments so far online show opposition to the policy. Legal challenges to it are possible.
