TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — As Hurricane Ian continues its approach toward Tampa Bay, businesses and government offices are sending out closure notices and events are getting postponed or canceled. In the Tampa Bay area, here are the places that have said they’re closed down as the storm approaches.
Government services & activities
- Sixth Judicial Circuit, closed through Sept. 29 (Pinellas and Pasco counties)
- Northeast Water Reclamation Facility Improvements Project Public Meeting Postponed (St. Petersburg)
- MacDill Air Force Base, beginning Sept. 27 for non-mission essential individuals (Hillsborough)
- City of St. Petersburg City Services
- Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller New Port Richey and Dade City offices, from Sept. 27 to Sept. 30.
- Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) suspends service on Sept. 28, expected to resume Oct. 1
- Manatee County Parks and Preserves, Public Libraries, Animal Welfare Facilities, and Building and Construction Inspection Services
- Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT), closed from afternoon Sept. 27
- Pinellas County Sheriff fingerprint services (Clearwater)

- The Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office will close from Sept. 27 to Sept. 30. It is expected to reopen Oct. 3.
- Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County, closed Sept. 26
- Florida Department of Health in Hernando County offices and clinics, Sept. 27-30
- City of St. Petersburg on Sanitation City Services, recycling will close at 12 p.m., Sept. 27
- Southwest Florida Water Management District, all District-managed campgrounds, properties, trails, and day use areas in 16-county region (Tampa Bay 10 counties)
- Nathan Benderson Park will close from Sept. 26 to Oct. 2
- NBP Rec Day on Sept. 28, canceled
- Yoga in the Park on Oct. 2, canceled
- Hillsborough Tax Collector suspends operations Sept. 27 to Sept. 29
- Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, Hillsborough County courts close for Hurricane Ian, Sept. 27 through Sept. 29
- Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections will close 12 p.m. Sept. 26 to Sept. 30. Poll worker classes are canceled and offices are expected to reopen on Monday, Oct. 3.
- Manatee County Waste Management suspends service on Anna Maria Island and Palmetto starting Sept. 28.
- All City of Brooksville government offices, facilities, parks, and cemeteries will close Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. until Oct. 3 at 8 a.m.
- The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections offices are closed through Sept. 29.
- All City of Largo facilities will close from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29 with plans to reopen on Sept. 30.

- Polk County’s Board of County Commissioner offices will be closed for non-essential business from Sept. 27 to Sept. 28
- Florida Department of Health in Pasco County, closed Sept. 28 to Sept. 30
- Pinellas County Government will be closed from Tuesday, Sept. 27 to Wednesday, Sept. 28.
- The Manatee County Clerk & Comptroller offices will be closed Sept. 27 to Sept. 29. However, historical sites operated by the office, Florida Maritime Museum, Manatee County Agricultural Museum, Manatee Village Historical Park, and Palmetto Historical Park, will be closed through the end of the week.
- The Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office will close at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 27, and reopen Sept. 30 at 8:30 a.m.
- Hillsborough County Waste Management will suspend operations on Sept. 28.
- City of Tampa government offices are closed starting on Sept. 27 until further notice.
- The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is no longer limiting access to the county’s barrier islands. Access is now available to:

- Hillsborough Transit Authority (HART) has ceased operations on fixed-route services until further notices. Those in need of transport in Mandatory Evacuation Zones A and B will be able to request on-demand trips. Once wind speeds reach 35 piles per hour, demand services will stop. - City of Sarasota services will be closed until 8 a.m. on Sept. 30. Water to the barrier islands in Sarasota will be closed at 7 p.m., according to city officials.
- Pasco County GoPasco bus services will cease operation after 8;30 p.m. on Sept. 27. Return to service will depend on weather conditions.
- Residential and commercial trash and recycling will be suspended on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29, tentatively restarting on Sept. 30.
- Pasco County public libraries, senior centers, extension offices, building construction services, animal services, and parks, recreation, and natural resources closed as of Sept. 27.
- Bay Pines Veterans Hospitals to close due to Hurricane Ian through Oct. 1.

- City of Lakeland non-essential operations and facilities will close Sept. 28 and Sept. 29.
- Sarasota police are closing the John Ringling Causeway and Siesta Bridge starting at 8 p.m. on Sept. 27
- Amazon is temporarily closing its Florida warehouses in the Tampa and Orlando areas.
- Fire and Emergency Services at Anna Maria Island have been suspended and bridges closed.
- Access to Clearwater Beach will be restricted as of 12 a.m. on Sept. 28.
- Veterans Hospital Tampa suspends elective procedures from Sept. 28 to Sept. 29.
- Sunshine Skyway Bridge is closed until further notice.

- United Way Suncoast’s R.I.S.E. and Shine Breakfast postponed due to Tropical Storm Ian, a new date has not yet been chosen. UWS will also be suspending operations in its offices and the Sulphur Springs, Campbell Park, and North Greenwood Neighborhood Resource Centers from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29.
- St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) will close its airport terminal building at 1 p.m on Sept. 27 in accordance with county evacuation requirements.
- St. Petersburg’s Looper will suspend service at end of day on Sept. 27. Service will resume after it is determined to be safe to operate, officials said.
- The Palladium Theater will close from Sept. 27 to Oct. 2, with all weekend shows postponed.

- The Dunedin Fine Art Center will close from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29.
- The Dalí Museum will close Tues, Sept. 27 through Thu, Sept. 29 (St. Petersburg)
- 2022 Publix Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Clearwater was postponed to Oct. 7 and Oct. 8, 2023
- GuideWell Emergency Doctors locations in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties will close on Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. and plan to reopen on Sept. 29 at 9 a.m.
- Sanitas Medical Centers locations in Hillsborough County will close primary care operations at 4 p.m. on Sept. 26. Urgent care operations will stay open.
- Busch Gardens will close Sept. 28 to Sept. 29 in anticipation of Hurricane Ian’s impacts on ambassadors, guests, and animals.
- All Faiths Food Bank’s Autumn Harvest Dinner will be postponed due to Hurricane Ian. A new date has not yet been determined.
- Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital will close its main campus from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29. The emergency center will remain open in St. Petersburg.
- Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, SRQ, will close at 8 p.m. on Sept. 27.
- Publix will close at 6 p.m. on Sept. 27 and reopen on Sept. 30 in Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties.
- Publix stores in Polk and Highlands counties are expected to be open until 4 p.m. on Sept. 28 and closed on Sept. 29.
- In Pinellas, three stores will close at 3 p.m. on Sept. 27

- The Florida Orchestra’s 55th Celebration benefit concert on Oct. 1 has been postponed due to Hurricane Ian.
- St. Petersburg’s Tyrone Square Mall will be closed from Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. through Sept. 29.
- Testing for the SAT at Cambridge Christian School on Oct. 1 was canceled.
- Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Fresco y Mas, Harveys, and Win-Dixie stores, announced Tampa Bay area locations will close. Additional closures will be announced as Hurricane Ian progresses and the company will provide updates on reopenings as safety permits.
