America’s best wings are in Connecticut, says Buffalo wing festival

Two of the country’s best wing joints are right next door in Connecticut.

The National Buffalo Wing Festival, hosted in Buffalo, New York, annually announced earlier this month the winners for best wing categories.

The Blind Rhino sports bar located in Norwalk and Bridgeport, Connecticut, was announced first place winner in the “best traditional hot wing” category. The restaurant beat out Weitzel’s Wings in Wyoming and Archers Tavern in Ohio.

This is the second year in a row that Blind Rhino won first place in the category.

“That’s back to back wins at the Natty for our Spicy Buffalo sauce in…Buffalo,” the place wrote on Instagram.

Blind Rhino’s wings have won six trophies in past National Buffalo Wing Festivals like “best in show” wing for its plum sriracha flavor, News Times reported. Previous awards won include second place for creative spicy and creative sweet.

Connecticut-based Wing It On! also took home a first place prize this year in the “best traditional medium wing” category.

Wing It On! beat out Archers Tavern in Ohio and The Old Union Hotel in New York.

The restaurant has locations in Waterbury, Stratford and New Britain. The chain also has locations across the country in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York and Texas.

“We have always prided ourselves on providing an exceptional wing experience for our fans, and this honor is evidence of the tireless work we’ve put into crafting each and every one of our sauces for an unmatched flavor profile,” said Matt Ensero, founder and CEO of Wing It On! according to QSR Magazine.
