Warning: This post contains spoilers from Thursday’s Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime crossover premieres.
Someone buy Sonny Carisi a conciliatory bag of zeppole, pronto.
About two-and-a-half hours into NBC‘s three-way Law & Order/SVU/Organized Crime crossover event last Thursday, SVU‘s Det. Amanda Rollins took a bullet to the abdomen and was in very bad shape. After she’d already been transported by ambulance, Rollins’ former partner/current boyfriend ADA Carisi arrived on the scene, panicked and fearing that she was dead.
Benson tried to soothe Peter Scanavino’s Carisi as best she could, reminding him that Amanda was very strong, and the captain pulled him into a hug before he took off to go to the hospital. (Read a full recap.)
Carisi’s section of the scene was brief (roughly 35 seconds) but moving. Wolf Entertainment, which produces the procedurals, tweeted about it after it aired.
Oh Carisi! We can feel his pain through the screen. 💔 #LawAndOrder #SVU #SVUxOCxLO pic.twitter.com/4kWxyH7CRR

On Friday morning, though, Carisi’s highly emotional moment was nowhere to be found in the version of the episode available for streaming on Peacock. (Quick note: Because of the order in which the crossover unfolded, the scene in question took place during Law & Order‘s Season 22 premiere.) As it stands, the episode moves from Benson’s questioning an officer who witnessed the shooting to Benson’s consoling the teen girl Rollins had been protecting. In the on-air version, Carisi showed up between those two interludes.
Reps for NBC, Peacock and Wolf Entertainment declined to comment, but a source close to the Law & Order franchise tells TVLine that the sequence was trimmed for syndication and streaming to make room for a pre-episode recap (which is required since the episodes will run as standalone hours off-network).
As of Sept. 19, Peacock is the only streaming service to offer next-day streaming of NBC series.
In May, an SVU/Organized Crime-crossover scene in which Stabler met Benson’s son, Noah, for the first time went missing when those episodes of both shows began streaming on Hulu.
Why would they need to trim an episode for streaming…? I get for syndication but I can’t imagine this episode will air in syndication anytime soon. I watched the whole thing on Peacock and felt it was odd Carisi was barely in the whole trilogy.
This was my thought exactly! I actually was wondering how they would handle syndication given how interwoven these eps were, and extra time for a recap makes sense – but why would that be the way it streamed? If anything, streaming should have EXTRA scenes that were cut for air, not less!
What’s the point of streaming different content!!!! Sometimes I have to see them for the first time streaming, and I LOVE to rewatch favorite episodes. I’m hugely disappointed with Dick Wolf… now I’m unsure I’ll be watching all of the ny shows.
I was “coerced” into “renting” Peacock to watch DAYS because it was moved off the Network and figured I could watch other NBC shows there. Stupid me! I did NOT think they’d be trimming episodes. If anything, I thought we would get additional content that couldn’t be squeezed into the tightly-formatted network presentations. Paying EXTRA to get LESS? I don’t think so. Badly done, NBC. Badly done. Please restore episodes ASAP.
They moved DAYS to W Network in Canada if you can get that channel. Same time as it aired on NBC.
I guess that clears up whether or not I’ll subscribe to Peacock: I will not.
While I did sign up with Peacock due to removal of NBC from (part-owned BY NBC) Hulu, glad I watched this on the Spectrum app on-demand. 1/didn’t miss any of it and 2/bonus was able to FF thru commercials! (Only in same week that it airs; after that no FF option. (Not paying for adfree option during $1.99 promo!)
Wha? I can see trimming for syndication as the locals get additional ad time and it needs to fit the time slot, but cutting for streaming is absurd and u acceptable to subscribers of the paid service.
NBC and Wolf Productions seem to be giving Rollins/Carisi fans the finger this season. Fans do not need the show refreshed at the expense of Rollins. Fans who cut the cord and paying for peacock premium shouldn’t be short changed. NBC and Dick Wolf needs their “arses” kicked swiftly and repeatedly.
Well said👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I agree, and I am extremely mad they think getting rid of Amanda and the Rollins/Carisi relationship is going to change things for the better…….I didn’t even bother to watch the premiere…… what’s the point of watching any of it? I HATE LAW AND ORDER ORGANIZED CRIME. I LOVE MELONI…HATE HIS SHOW. SO BYE BYE L&O
I WAS A LOYAL VIEWER SINCE THE BEGINNING, NO MORE
I’m also an L&O watcher from The Beginning, including all franchises. Organized Crime is just too intense for me. I will watch EVERYTHING ELSE in which Christopher Meloni appears, but NOT that. As for Rollins & Carisi… Perhaps not the most popular opinion, but I cannot stand Kelli Giddish/Amanda. OMG, what a co-dependent, trashy loser. I find myself hoping she eventually quits/dies from her injury in the premiere. Haven’t disliked any character so much since Elizabeth Rohm on L&O. She was an automaton. Carisi can do so much better. It’s all that “Catholic guilt”! Wake up, Sonny!
Luckily your vile fantasies won’t come true.
I love Org. Crime. The eight-episode arc about the Albanian cartel was some of the best TV I’ve watched in years.
Made my decision…I will not pay for a service that is going to show me less.
Watched it on Peacock on Sun 9/25 and the scene was there 👍🏻 Very emotional!
Monday 9/26, it’s not there.
I think you may be confused.
I wasn’t confused because I saw it on Sunday also. Got the special $1.99/month for a year deal of Peacock so I could watch it since it did not record on my Hulu Live.
I saw it too. Guess we were lucky.
After watching every episode since day one of L&O: SVU some up to three times as this series airs on an off-channel all day on Saturday in my area, I promise to drop this fave series. I felt the crossover was confusing. I’m a senior, probably why. The human interaction between the characters is what’s held me in place all of these years! I’m losing my human interaction. I also felt like the few words out of Carisi’s mouth regarding hearing that Amanda was shot were stilted. Benson’s reply, I didn’t like at all. Sounded like she was already distancing herself from Rollins. Anyways, the key to my problem is to stop watching. Sorry to be such a nag…
I used to watch on Saturday as well, but I’ve since switched and started watching NCIS. I love the show, but I have no problems walking away.
I totally agree!
The producers are destroying this show by getting rid of Rollins. Is odd as they always get rid of women. Rollins and Carisis scenes are loving and a change of pace. She is also Olivia’s friend..Will stop watching
The new showrunner or Dick Wolf…NBC execs…whoever decided to get rid of Rollins (@KelliGoddish) is making a mistake. I’m ambivalent about the new season and didn’t watch the premiere. I may end my watching with season 23.
Same with #OneChicago. They let good flagship characters on all 3 shows go and pissed off a lot of their fanbase, myself included.
A lot of them left on their own, not wanting to have to be located in Chicago.
It’s not the new showrunner’s decision, in fact they all push back on the decision but was told it was decided by someone high up. Most likely due to costs, but still the way they are sweeping the relationship off like that is jarring.
To be honest, Ice-T should have left the show already given he’s 64 years old and the NYPD that the show is based on has a Mandatory Retirement Age of 63.
NGL, I didn’t particularly like the premier episode. Amanda gets shot and ‘Liv, Fin, the other one aren’t pacing the floors comforting Carisi? Where was everyone? Aren’t ‘Liv and Amanda besties? I don’t know what sense it makes getting rid of a favored character.😤
So I have to sign up for NBC Peacock to find out what happens to Amanda and Carisi? No more Dick Wolf shows in this house. I thought the crossover was horrible. Kelli Giddish deserved better. So did her fans. NBC Peacock is not worth $1.99.
When I watched it on Cox On Demand Friday I was frustrated, and rewatched it to try to find the scene. I do not like that they did that at all.
I’m a big fan but I did not care for the cross over all those scenes hard to keep up, they just need it to be simple. I don’t watch law & order. Don’t care for the characters.
I think it is a mistake to let Rollins leave the show. There is an edge to her character that made her interesting to watch. I will find soneoelse to watch once she leaves the show.
The episodes were preempted for NFL so my only option is streaming — not cool NBC, not cool 😠
I think it’s sad sad sad there will be no Rollins and Carisi. Why Rollins is leaving per dick wolf??? He’s making a huge mistake. Love Rollins. Smh
My Mom got me interested in this series. I watched one episode in about the start of the 10th season and I was hooked! I went back to the initial 1st season and I watched all the way through until I was caught up to everyone of the seasons I missed. My Mom has passed and now I’m watching for both of us. Thanks Mom! I am really not understanding why one of the best actors on the show is being taken from the show. Like me, my Mom would be so upset to lose Amanda. Unfortunately, I don’t think this will be a good thing for the series. It’s sad.
Why they always cut the best scene? Are they trying to force us to watch live on NBC? I’ve been streaming SVU for years and it was ok and now I keep missing important stuff because of not watching live
Let me get this right…you pay for a service that cuts out scenes? And I thought the purpose of paying for a service was you get the WHOLE episode plus any extras available. Forget about it.
Disappointed that scene was cut
My opinion is shes leaving the show why air it?
Their relationship is an important part of the series.
I watch Law & Order SVU & Organized Crime without fail, but not so much Law & Order. I only watched the original Law & Order episode as it was part of the crossover.
I thought the long three-hour crossover was a bit too much all at one time.
This is bs they probably realized how upset some of us are about Rollins and didn’t want to add to it
I am cutting L&O
Period
There are so many fans that are not watching after Kelli’s last episode. And cutting Rollins and Carisi scenes when they know Rollisi is a fan favorite couple! NBC really wants to lose even more viewers by blatantly going against their fans wishes. TVLine can you do an article on how hard the fans are working to save Amanda/Kelli? Our petition has over 5400 signatures now! We’re fed up with NBC and Dick Wolf’s misogynic ways.
No sense whatsoever! I can’t help but think that Mariska knew about all of this business concerning Kelli. Mariska’s position with SUV pretty much says she knows everything before it unfolds.
1.99 for new streamers. I pay 4.99 monthly.
