There’s no way LeBron James would play for the Ohio State football team…right?

No athlete on the planet is more recognizable than LeBron James. His reach is truly global and he is a huge fan of all things Ohio State. In fact, he just gifted the entire Ohio State football team some brand new headphones prior to their game against Wisconsin.

Before the game, LeBron tweeted asking about how eligibility works for someone who never played a sport in college but went pro in something else.

Later that night, Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith had an answer for King James.

Is this Gene’s way of recruiting LeBron to play for the Ohio State football team? LeBron’s former Cavs teammate, J.R. Smith, is currently playing college golf while he is getting his degree. He also never went to college before, so there is some precedent out there.

But as much fun as this is to think about, this would obviously never happen. For one thing, LeBron is almost 40 years old. His body couldn’t take the rigors of a college football season. He also wouldn’t start playing for at least another two years after he’s already played with his son in the NBA.

I think LeBron would look great in Scarlet and Gray personally. He’d make a great tight end. Despite Smith’s best attempts, I think this is one recruiting battle the Buckeyes won’t win.
