Husband Who Faked Injury to Make Spouse Miss Brother's Wedding Dragged

The internet has criticized a husband who faked an injury so his partner would come home from her brother's wedding.

In a viral post shared on Reddit, user throwaway32343456 wrote that their partner had been sick for several days and that he fell ill around the time of the ceremony.

According to the medical information website Health Line, there are numerous signs that a person could be in an emotionally abusive relationship.

Among the list of behaviors to look out for is emotional blackmailing, which is attempting to get you to do something by manipulating your feelings.

The Redditor wrote that their husband "threw a fit" when he learned they would be going to the wedding and leaving him alone.

The poster added that the husband started to sulk and told them he hoped they would never come back, which hurt their feelings.

The Redditor wrote: "At the wedding, I got a text from him saying he lost balance and fell off the stairs and hurt his back. He said he was in a lot of pain, he threw up and couldn't move and insisted I get home ASAP (as soon as possible).

"I freaked out and started calling his phone but he didn't answer. I thought 'he must've passed out' and I freaked out even more. I got in my car and drove back to our house immediately."

But when the Reddit poster returned home, they found their husband was in bed drinking juice and they had a suspicion that he had lied.

They started to yell at him as his lie had caused them to miss out on their brother's wedding for nothing.

The Reddit user wrote: "He said that he already told me I couldn't leave him alone in the house and that this 'very scenario' could've happened if I stayed there any longer.

"I yelled at him calling him horrible, which made him cry. He started crying and throwing his juice all over the place.

"I had to step out and call his sister thinking she'd come help but she came and started cussing me out saying I had a lot of nerve expecting her to back me up after I so carelessly left her brother alone at the house in that state just to attend a party. We got into an argument and I went to stay with my family."

The post has received 17,700 upvotes and more than 950 comments since it was shared on Sunday.

An overwhelming majority of those who replied to the comment were scathing of the husband's behavior and told the Redditor to consider breaking up with him.

One user, whose comment was upvoted more than 30,000 times, wrote: "He lied, he's manipulative and he's borderline abusive. The only reason to go back to that house should be to collect your belongings."

Another commented: "This isn't even borderline. He was abusive to her. That behavior is a hell naw (no) and means it's time to get out."

A third Redditor posted: "Get out of this relationship. This is only the tip of the iceberg of what he is going to pull when you do not do as he says when he says it.

"He is a controlling person, highly manipulative and is actively seeking to destroy your relationship with your family. Let's be clear. This was about control."
