Misty Kay Dickerson-Engstrom, 48, of Uhrichsville, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 24, 2022. Born January 25, 1974, in Wheeling, West Virginia, she was a daughter of Judith Arlene (Hopkins) Dickerson of Dennison and the late David Franklin “Frank” Dickerson.

Misty will be deeply missed by her husband, Richard Dean “Richie” Engstrom, III to whom she was married on September 27, 1999; daughter, Savannah Rayne “Vannah” Engstrom; father-in-law, Richard D. Engstrom, Jr.; sisters, Connie (Don) Dickerson-Clark and Debbie Dickerson-Snelson; nieces and nephews, Tanya (Damon) Clark, Tessa Clark, and David (Ali) Snelson; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jayden, Taya, Daylen, Graysen, Vito, Cheyenne, Madison, Tyler, Baylee, Grady, and Hazel; her best friend, Andrea Parrish; her “vacation family”, Billy and Tonya Palmer, Maranda Palmer, and James and Ammie Katicich; and a large extended family which includes many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Patricia Engstrom, who passed just 7 hours before her; a nephew, Donald Ryan Clark; and cousin, Tommie Palmer with whom she loved to travel.

A 1992 graduate of Cadiz High School and Belmont Vocational School, Misty worked as a cosmetologist for a time before devoting her life to her family as a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker. Recently, she worked at Stepping Stone as a caregiver for the past several years. Misty had a joy for living that encompassed all facets of her life – from cheering on the OSU Buckeyes to spending time swimming in her pool to the many vacations that she enjoyed so much – but most of all, she was the glue that held her large family together. She loved shopping, especially for other people, and her many nieces and nephews were lavished with her generosity on many occasions, with the best being their family “Kids’ Day” which was when they all celebrated Christmas together on Thanksgiving. She also doted on her dogs whom she loved so much.

A combined funeral service for Misty and her mother-in-law, Patty, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. She will be interred at Longview Cemetery in New Athens on Thursday, September 29, following an 11:00 a.m. graveside service. Family and friends are invited to call on Misty and Patty’s family at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27. Misty’s family sincerely requests that charitable donations honoring her memory be made to the American Diabetes Association and the Tuscarawas County Dog Pound, in lieu of flowers.
