On July 2 Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call at the Black Canyon City Family Dollar store, where reports that a man had been shot and involved in a single vehicle collision on Old Black Canyon Highway had taken place.
Deputies confirmed the shooting took place in the parking lot of the Family Dollar store and the victim drove away and got into a single vehicle collision where he drove off the roadway and up an embankment. The victim identified as Cody Cooper of Black Canyon City succumbed to a single gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.
YCSO Detectives identified the suspect as 32 year old Jesse Farmer of Phoenix.
Farmer is currently incarcerated in Maricopa County and will also be booked on the charge of First-Degree Homicide.
