Matt and Nadiya appreciation

Don't lambast me if one these threads already exists but I'm darned if I can find. If it does, put it down to an old fossil getting muddled

I'm a big Nardia fan and I think she and Matt look good together

I did too. But the whole marking felt crazy to me.

I also felt Matt was undermarked and the comments were a bit harsh. I thought he showed style and good timing.
People seem very quick to judge him.
I hope he doesn't go out too soon and we get a chance to get to know him a bit.

Matt and Nadiya looked good on "It Takes Two" and Matt was much more relaxed. Nadiya was also a lot more talkative in the interview and seems more confident since her partnership with Dan last year.

I felt a bit sorry for Matt. I hope he bounces back with a good samba. That being said, his QS was fine and the harsh criticism seemed very uncalled for.

And Nadiya looked like a goddess as per the norm.

As a humongous Nadiya fan. I'm really invested in this partnership. Maybe because I'm too negative but I don't feel Nadiya has been given her due with a ringer yet. She certainly deserves one and it feels like to me, she's a pro who's treated unjustly by judges and producers.

I certainly think she has had a few raw deals while others have been given preferential treatment

I thought Shirley (whom I don't like so find it difficult to be unbiased) but nevertheless, I thought she was scathing to Matt on Saturday night. And he took it like a gentleman

Well done to Matt and Nadiya making it through the dance off!
They made fewer obvious errors in their dance and so the result was fair!

I feel sorry for Matt. I quite like him having watched the documentary about Bros and the brothers, Luke and Matt, a few years ago.

When he was repeating his samba in the dance off I noticed that he was freer when doing move obviously disco dance moves, suggesting he was struggling with the samba which is reputed to be the hardest latin dance. It was only week two after all.

I also noticed that he dances as though detached from his body. I’m sure there is a better expression for it that dance teachers may know. I have some thoughts as to why he may dance somewhat dissociated and I’m hoping Nadiya might be able to ground him a bit with breathing techniques. I’ve read it enough times to know that i to the ground and earthiness are hallmarks of latin, so again Matt was probably struggling with samba.

I realised watching him in the dance off as well that they are an exciting couple to watch. Perhaps because Matt is unpredictable and Nadiya is beautiful and a fabulous dancer - she gets some of the best costumes and I liked her jumpsuit. I hope he can stay for longer and get a bottom two bounce next week.

He is very nervous, isn't he? I feel if he could loosen up a bit he and Nadiya could go quite a way in the competition. There is so much nastiness about him on other forums. For a while I thought I was the only one on here supporting him and Nadiya. I'm probably wrong but Shirley appears not to like him much

Matt has posted on an Instagram live that he has been finding it tough learning a new skill. He didn't really know what dance was!
He has just moved back to the UK after 25 years abroad and is straight into Strictly and all that it entails.

It was interesting that Kai said on It Takes Two, that he had been giving Matt some help. Perhaps now that Kai is out of the competition, he will give Nadiya and Matt some further assistance!

I hope so. Kai is a good dancer and can help Matt with the male/lead, especially for ballroom dances. I think much was expected of Matt either in terms of talent and/or personality and he’s just a celeb with a mixed bag of talents and insecurities learning something new.

A poster on the main forum said it's a shame Matt's quite thoughtfulness gets lost on the mayhem of the main show. I really think that is a great observation.

I don't see evidence of this ego people keep mentioning. But I do see someone shy and racked with nerves when performing.

Matt was quite talkative and entertaining on ITT last night.
I liked the joke he made when Rylan handed him a sick bag with a Strictly logo on it, in case he felt sick during the waltz..."Of all the gifts I have ever received, this is one of them"!.... Or words to that effect. He also said he had been sleeping in a tumble dryer to help him with the spinning!

I didn't really know of Matt much before Strictly, but he seems ok!
