Chester Area and Rutland School Boards receive ASBSD awards

Two area school boards have been honored by the Associated School Boards of South Dakota for their efforts to enhance their knowledge of school board work during the 2021-22 school year.

The Rutland School Board and the Chester Area School Board each earned a Silver level award in the Associated School Board’s statewide board recognition program.  The program is called ALL – which stands for Act, Learn, and Lead.  The award takes into consideration the board’s collective participation in activities and trainings related to school board work and demonstrating leadership in public education at the local, state and national level.

The Rutland School Board accumulated 455 points, while the Chester Area Board accumulated 355.

This is the Chester Area School Board’s first ALL award, and it is the Rutland School Board’s sixth award, which is every year since it began.

In this past school year, a record 91 public school boards – or more than 60-percent of the public boards in the state – earned an ALL award.
