A gun threat made against an Allentown middle school was not credible, but increased security will be in place, city police said.
Police said they were made aware Sunday of a threat of potential gun violence today at South Mountain Middle School, 709 W. Emaus Ave.
An investigation found the threat was not credible, police said.
“There will be increased security measures in place to provide additional presence in the school,” the department said in a news release.
Asked on Monday if an arrest was made or a suspect identified, city police said the incident is still under investigation.
“We are working on multiple leads to resolve the case,” Capt. Kyle Pammer said via email.

The Allentown threat comes after a threat to shoot people at a neighboring middle school closed Parkland School District buildings for two days earlier this month.
In that instance, an unknown person on Sept. 7 made a threat on Pennsylvania’s Safe2Say Something system to come to Orefield Middle School on Sept. 8 to “shoot people,” South Whitehall Township police said.
