BAKER CITY — Downtown’s most savory and sweet event returns after a two-year hiatus.

Taste of Baker is happening Saturday, Oct. 8, 4-7 p.m.

For this fall tradition, restaurants and shops in downtown Baker City offer their most popular food — and some new offerings — in sample-size portions.

(Which means you can try nearly everything!)

All the food and drinks are priced by tokens, which can be purchased in advance at Charley’s, The Sycamore Tree and Ryder Bros. Tokens will also be available downtown during Taste of Baker.

For the event, Main Street will be closed to traffic so participants can easily wander back and forth between restaurants. In 2021, Baker City Downtown at first scheduled Taste of Baker, but it was eventually cancelled due to concerns over COVID-19 and a lack of staffing at local eateries.

“It’s great to bring it back — this is a cornerstone event for Baker City Downtown,” said Chelsea Judy, BCD president. “It’s a great way for vendors to showcase their food.”

And not all are downtown restaurants. Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort will set up in front of The Trailhead to dish up jalapeño corn chowder and bloody mary drinks, and Grocery Outlet will set up to offer a variety of snacks. The full menu will be revealed the night of the event, but here’s a peek at what some restaurants will feature:

  • Latitude 45 Grille: BBQ pulled pork mac and cheese, orange salad and housemade cookies.
  • North 7 Brewing: samples of craft beer.
  • Main Event Sports Bar: prime rib street taco and fall sangria (for 21+)
  • Hearts & Petals: truffles, sunflower bouquets.
  • Delicioso Mexican Restaurant: pork or chicken tamales, shrimp ceviche
  • Copper Belt Winery/The Cheese Fairy: wine, red beer, cheese and charcuterie skewer, pickled skewer,
  • BELLA Main Street Market: Ruby D tonic with lime, hand-dipped chocolate truffles, homemade caramel cube with sea salt.
  • Peterson’s Chocolates: drinking chocolate, assorted chocolates, chocolate coated nuts.
