Laker band is Grand Champion at Mark Twain Invitational

The Russell County Mighty Laker Marching Band took the top spot on Saturday, winning Grand Champion at the annual Mark Twain Invitational at Adair County High School.

The band, under the direction of Curtis Ervin and Haley Harrington, also claimed best color guard, best percussion, best overall music performance, best overall visual performance and best overall general effect. In the prelims, the Laker band received best percussion, best color guard and were tops in Class 3A.

The Laker band bested eight other bands in the competition, including second place finisher George Rogers Clark and third place finisher Barren County.

This coming Saturday, October 1st, the band will travel east to compete in the South Laurel Cardinal Classic.
