RENICK (WVDN) – Lauren Hayes of Renick grew these eight-feet tall Amaranthus in her vegetable garden.
Hayes says the Elena’s Rojo Amaranth were a first experience for her. She is very pleased with how well they performed this year and plans to grow them again.
Originating in Central and South America, Amaranth is grown as a grain crop in the United States, and often the flour made from the seeds can be found in health food snack bars.
