Sales tax revenue continues positive trend for September

Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home’s sales tax revenue continue to see positive increases in September.According to Alma Clark, the City of Mountain Home’s Director of Finance and Treasury, the city collected a total of $581,878 in sales tax revenue which is an increase of 13.6% compared to this time last year. Year-to-date the city has seen a total increase of $353,699, which is an increase of 7%.The figures released by Chief Deputy Treasurer Patti Block show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $522,397 a 14.5% increase in sales tax revenue compared to the September 2021 collection of $456,171.

Clark reports the city collected $261,772 from its own 2.13% sales tax which is a 15% increase compared to last year’s total of $226,927.

Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. September’s numbers reflect area spending from July.

Mountain Home also received $282,594 in September revenue from the county’s 1% sales tax. Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:

– Gassville, which received $47,837;

– Cotter, which received $19,522;

– Lakeview, which received $17,076;

– Salesville, which received $10,422;

– Norfork, which received $10,246;

– Briarcliff, which received $5,200; and

– Big Flat, which received $1,939.

Over the first seven months of the year, Mountain Home has collected $5.1 million from its 2.13% sales tax.

Baxter County received $229,309 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center. For the year, it has received over $1.8 million from that sales tax.

Mountain Home received $218,204 in September from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments.

Mountain Home has collected $290,939 from the park improvement sales tax, which is $70,549 more than needed for Bond Payment of $230,390.

Park operation sales tax for September collected equals $145,469.
