PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A quiet neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia was rocked by deadly gunfire.

Police say someone shot and killed a 23-year-old man in a rear driveway.

It happened on Creston Street near Oakland Street just before 2 a.m. Monday.

"I heard the gunshots and it woke me up out of my sleep," said neighbor, Michael Merriman.

Security cameras nearby captured the deadly shooting. According to police, the 23-year-old man was shot in the head. He was reportedly wearing blue surgical gloves when his body was found in the alleyway.

Video shows the minutes leading up to the shooting, where a dark-colored vehicle could be seen pulling up and people getting out. Eventually, the car speeds off.

"Why would he have gloves? Was he up to no good or did they catch him doing something? I don't know," said neighbor Anita Hopkins.

It's unclear what they were doing there. Neighbors are shaken up about it all.

"I've been here for over 15 years and never seen or heard anything like this aside from car break-ins," said Phuong Thech.

It's a neighborhood full of people including children.

"This was a very quiet neighborhood and I know you hear everywhere, 'oh it can't happen in my neighborhood.' It can happen anywhere," said Elizabeth Gonzalez, who's lived in the northeast since 2005.

Police have not made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.

A weapon was not recovered at the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
