BOURBON — The Bourbon Town Council approved Ordinance 2022-2 – Matchett Center Fees on first read.

The ordinance increased fees for rental of the Matchett Center located at 805 North Harris St., Bourbon.

The board opened the floor to a public hearing. There was no public input for or against the proposed ordinance.

President Ward Byers explained that the fees were being raised nominally. The current cost of renting the facility is not covering the year-round operational expenses invested by the town. While the town does not desire to make a profit, they do need to break even.

The ordinance detailed a $300 rental fee for in-town residents and a $400 rental fee for out-of-town renters.

Rental for a wedding reception will be $1,000.

Triton High School Graduation parties will increase from $100 to $150.

Renters who wish to set up the night before who haven’t rented for that day will be required to pay a $50 set up fee.

The refundable security deposit in the amount of $200 remains the same.

The ordinance will be advertised prior to approval of second and third reading which will be held during the October meeting.

Town of Bourbon Attorney Alex Hoover also drafted a Memorandum of Understanding for the Board of Directors for the Real Services Agreement for Matchett Center use. The document was tabled for review by Terry Clemens and Les McFarland.
