Following a 1-3 start to the 2022 football season, the board of the Georgia Tech Athletic Association has scheduled a special meeting on Monday that will certainly result in the dismissal of head football coach Geoff Collins as well as determine the fate of athletic director Todd Stansbury.

The meeting has been confirmed by team officials and sources have also stated that significant changes will be made within the program by the end of the day. The purpose of the meeting is more than likely going to result in the amount of the contract buyouts being reached, with Collins looking at somewhere around $11 million.

Lackluster recruiting and an inability to find any consistency with the newly-installed offense led to the team averaging only three wins each season during Collins’ time in the Flats, failing to win back-to-back games once.  The 27-10 loss on the road at Central Florida on Saturday left Collins with a 10-28 record over his last three seasons and pushed the GTAA into making much needed changes.

After a 3-9 finish last season, GT was hit hard by several players leaving via the transfer portal, including star running back Jahmyr Gibbs to Alabama.  Failure to bring top prospects into the fold, along with a brutal schedule to start this year’s campaign has resulted in the Jackets being outscored 110-20.

Athletic director Todd Stansbury, who has held the position since 2016, will likely be out a job as well as he chose to bring Collins back after the 2021 season.  Odds are that Stansbury will not being given the opportunity to hire the next head coach after this failed attempt to make the team competitive in the ACC once again.

The Yellow Jackets will be on the road this week as the make the trip to Pittsburgh to take on the defending ACC Champion Pitt Panthers.  No announcement has been made as to who will take over the head coaching duties for the rest of the season.
