GLASTONBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A 15-year-old and an 18-year-old were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Glastonbury Sunday night.
The crash was first reported just before 7 p.m. when a driver on Hebron Avenue in the area of the Route 2 East on-ramp called 911 to report a collision involving an SUV and a motorcycle.
Emergency crews responded to the scene. Responders said they transported the motorcyclist and one occupant of the SUV to an area hospital for serious injuries. Other occupants in the SUV were also transported to the hospital, but only for observation, according to police.
One occupant of the SUV, a 15-year-old, and an 18-year-old motorcyclist were later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
On Monday, Glastonbury police identified the motorcyclist as 18-year-old Gordon Southby from Glastonbury. Police said he was a senior at Glastonbury High School.
Colchester Public Schools identified the 15-year-old as Andra Spencer, a Bacon Academy student, according to the district.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they endure this difficult time,” the district wrote in a post. “As a community, we are committed to supporting our students who may be emotionally impacted by this tragic news.”
Additional counselors will be available at Bacon Academy and William J. Johnston Middle School for students who need support, according to the district.
