Young Penguins fall in game two of split-squad to Blue Jackets

The Pittsburgh Penguins lost their second pre-season game to the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 5-1.

They won their earlier game in Pittsburgh by a score of 3-2 in overtime.

With the Pen’s fielding a more minor league ridden line up, things got locked up by the Blue Jackets fairly quickly.

Starting the scoring at the 7:15 mark of the first period through Justin Danforth.

The Penguins would go on to allow three goals in the second period of the game in a 5 minuet span.

The young guys didn’t get shut out though, earning back one goal in the third period by Jordan Frasca.

They would end the night by allowing two power play goals and being outshot 13-7.

The acting coach Todd Rierden emphasized that it was a game more for development and  begin their process to one day play at the NHL level.

On Tuesday at PPG Paints, the team will be back in action hosting the Detroit Redwings
