Local highway construction for the week of September 26

Here is a look at construction projects that are anticipated by the Ohio Department of Transportation to impact highways in Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties on the week of September 26.

Erie County

State Route 60, from SR 113 to Kneisel Road, will have single lane closures for asphalt pavement repairs, then crack sealing, and micro surfacing. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: August 2023

State Route 113 westbound, just west of U.S. 250, will have single lane closures for a slope repair project. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. The contractor will be installing a drilled shaft retaining wall to repair the slope on the north side of SR 113. Estimated completion: September 2022

Huron County

State Route 13, just south of U.S. 224, will close Monday, August 29 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 13 to SR 603, north on SR 603 to SR 61, north on SR 61 to U.S. 224, east on U.S. 224 to SR 13, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Wednesday, October 12, 2022

U.S. 20 along the Norwalk Bypass, from SR 99 to Cleveland Road, will have single lane closures as needed for bridge painting at structures along the bypass. Estimated completion: October 2022

Lorain County

Boone Road, between State Route 82 and Snell Road, is closed for a Lorain County Sanitary Sewer Project. The detour route will be SR 82 west to SR 252 north to Snell Road east, and reverse. Estimated completion: October 2022

U.S. 6 in the city of Vermilion, from approximately Berkley Road to Baumhart Road, will have lane closures for a pavement repairs and resurfacing project. Crews will begin work in the outside and one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained in the inside lanes. Estimated completion: June 2023

SR 10, between U.S. 20 and I-480, will have eastbound and westbound lane closures for a resurfacing project. At least one lane in each direction will be maintained. Estimated completion of entire project: October 2022

U.S. 20, from SR 10 to Chestnut Ridge Road, will have eastbound and westbound single lane closures for a resurfacing project. At least one lane in each direction will be maintained and there are no lane width restrictions. Estimated completion: October 2022

State Route 57, just west of SR 83 (Avon Belden Road), will close Monday, September 26 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 57 to SR 83 (Avon Belden Road), north on SR 83 to SR 82, west on SR 82 to SR 57, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Tuesday, October 25, 2022

State Route 57 northbound and southbound, between SR 82 and SR 10/U.S. 20, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained in the adjacent lane. An 11’ lane width will be maintained. Estimated completion of entire project: November 2022

State Route 57 in the village of Grafton, from Mechanic Street to Novak Road, will have periodic lane closures as needed for a streetscape project. Project work includes the realignment of Parsons Road and streetscape work including sidewalk installation, curb bump outs, and pedestrian facilities. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers during working hours. Estimated completion of entire project: October 2022

State Route 57, from just north of Cleveland Street to just west of Abbe Road, will have single lane closures for asphalt pavement repairs, then crack sealing, and micro surfacing. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: August 2023

State Route 58, from SR 113 to Park Avenue, will have single lane closures for asphalt pavement repairs, then crack sealing, and micro surfacing. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: August 2023

County Road 78 (Moore Road) in the city of Avon Lake, from just south of Walker Road to the city of Avon Lake’s southern corporation limits, will have one lane of traffic for a minor resurfacing project. CR 78 (Moore Road) is open to northbound traffic only. Southbound traffic will be detoured from Walker Road to SR 83 to Pin Oak Parkway to Moore Road. Estimated completion of this portion: September 2022 (Estimated completion of entire project: October 2022)

State Route 83 in the city of Avon, from Mills Road to SR 254, will have lane closures for a resurfacing project. Crews will be working on pavement repairs, casting adjustments, and surface course paving. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: October 2022

State Route 83, from SR 57 (Grafton Eastern Road) to the city of North Ridgeville’s southern corporation limits, will have lane closures for a resurfacing project. Estimated completion: October 2022

State Route 83 in the city of Avon Lake, between Carriage Lane and Electric Boulevard, is closed for a bridge replacement project at Heider Creek. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 83 to I-90, west on I-90 to SR 611, west on SR 611 to SR 301, north on SR 301 to U.S. 6, east on U.S. 6 to SR 83, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Friday, October 14, 2022

I-90 eastbound and westbound at the structures over the railroad tracks, between French Creek Road and SR 611 (Colorado Avenue), will have lane closures for a bridge reconstruction project. Traffic will be maintained with barrels and portable concrete barriers. Traffic will be maintained in 11’ lanes eastbound and westbound. Speed limits will be established at 55 mph for areas with barrier wall and 50 mph for areas with barrels when workers are present. Estimated completion: May 2023

State Route 301, from SR 18 to just north of SR 303 and from just south of Biggs Road to U.S. 20, will have single lane closures for asphalt pavement repairs, then crack sealing, and micro surfacing. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: August 2023

Ottawa County

State Route 2, between SR 358 and SR 163 (east of Port Clinton), will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing through August.

State Route 53, between State St. and E. Sloan/N. Crogan, Port Clinton, will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing through October.

State Route 163, between SR 105 and SR 19, Oak Harbor, will be closed for the annual Oak Harbor Apple Fest beginning Friday, October 7 through Sunday, October 9. Detour: SR 590 to SR 2 to SR 19.

State Route 163 at Billman Rd., Genoa, is closed for a bridge replacement through September. Detour: SR 163 to N.Fostoria Rd. to W. Holt Harrigan Rd. to N. Billman Rd.

State Route 163, at N.Shore Boulevard and Englebeck Road, Marblehead, will be reduced to one lane with traffic maintained via a temporary traffic signal beginning Sept. 6 through Nov. 15 for construction of a roundabout.

Sandusky County

U.S. Route 6/SR 53, U.S. Route 20, and E. State St., may experience lane restrictions for finish work following the completion of a ramp realignment.

Seneca County

State Route 18/Perry St., between Market St. and Johnson St., Tiffin, is closed for railroad work through Thursday, September 29. Detour: SR 101 to CR 13.
