PRINCETON, N.J. — The Dartmouth Big Green women's golf team concluded the Princeton Invitational with a 15-over 299 on Sunday, leaving the team in sixth place out of the 11 in the field. Junior Katherine Sung and freshman Sophie Thai led the Dartmouth effort as each carded a 3-over 74 on the day.

Yale produced the low round of the day with a 1-under 283 to take the team title by 12 strokes over Harvard at 2-over par (854). Georgetown placed third at 26-over, followed by Penn in fourth at 38-over and Seton Hall in fifth at 44-over, four strokes ahead of the Big Green, who shot an even 900 over the three rounds on the 6,109-yard, par-71 course at Springdale Golf Club.

Sung began her round on the fifth hole with the shotgun start, and after 10 holes was at even par with a birdie and a bogey. Trouble came her way in the form of a double bogey on 14 with bogeys on each of the next two holes before she righted her ship, closing with four pars and a birdie on the second hole. That left her with a 3-over 74 for the third straight round and a 9-over 222 for the tournament, tying for 14th.

The rookie Thai, meanwhile, opened with a bogey on six but went on to make par on 15 holes in her round of 74. With two rounds of 76 yesterday, she was just four strokes behind Sung in a tie for 18th with a 226 (+13) in her collegiate debut.

The other two rounds that contributed to Dartmouth's team score belonged to junior Penelope Tir and freshman Hope Hall. Tir posted three birdies while ending her tour with a 5-over 75 to tie for 25 overall at 15-over par, while Hall enjoyed her best round of the tournament with a birdie and 11 pars to shoot a 6-over 76, tying for 44th with a 233 (+20).

Senior Samantha Yao, who entered the day tied with Sung as Dartmouth's low scorer, wrapped up with an 8-over 79 to tie for 22nd at 14-over par.

The Big Green also had two golfers playing as individuals in sophomore Claire Xu and freshman Kim Shen. Xu sank one birdie and had 10 pars in carding a 77 (+6) to end the tournament tied with Thai in 18th place with a 226 (+13), and Shen drained two birdies and matched Yao's round with a 79 (+8), allowing her to tie for 38th with a 232 (+19).

Host Princeton had just three players competing as individuals due to health and safety concerns, but Yanjun Lu, last year's Ivy League champion and Rookie of the Year, continued to tear up the course with a 69 (-2). All three of her rounds were under 70 as she won medalist honors with a 9-under 204. Georgetown's Gabriella Gilrowski was four strokes back and Yale's Amy Gianchandani had the low round of the day with a 4-under 67 to claim third all for herself at 2-under par (211).

Dartmouth will return to the links for the ACC vs. Ivy Challenge at Baltusrol on Oct. 10-11.
