JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — One person has died, and three others have been taken to area hospitals after a multi-vehicle accident on Southbound Interstate 71 in Greene County Sunday night.

Crews were dispatched to the area of Southbound I-71 at State Route 72 around 8:45 p.m., according to a press release from OSHP.
The Chevrolet and Honda were slowing down or stopped in traffic when the Ford hit the Honda, pushing it into the Chevrolet.
Preliminary investigations show a black 2020 Chevrolet Malibu, a black 2012 Honda Civic, and a white 2008 Ford E-350 van were all going south on I-71 and approached an active construction zone.
The crash caused all three vehicles to travel off the left side of the road and into the median.
Francisco Antonio Guardado Cornejo, 34, of Memphis, Tennessee the left rear passenger, of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda, Bertiloio Javier Guillen Rameriz, 27, of Memphis, Tennessee, was transported by MedFlight to Kettering Hospital and the front passenger, Francisco Antonio Landaverde Rameriz, 26, of Memphis, Tennessee, was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Both Francisco and Bertiloio are in critical condition as of September 26.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Catherine Berringer, 45, of Colliers, West Virginia was taken to Miami Valley Hospital’s location in Jamestown with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford van, Jayce Sausa, age 26, of Akron, was treated and released a the scene.
I-71 was reopened at 1:00 a.m., according to the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Multiple crews were called to the scene, including the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the OSHP.
The identity of those involved will not be released until next-of-kin have been notified.
