The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the best record in the National League for the 2022 season and thus will have home-field advantage through the NL Championship Series.

They previously won the NL West for a ninth time in the past 10 seasons and shortly thereafter guaranteed themselves a bye in the Wild Card round as one of the division winners with a top-two record in the NL.

Since starting their dominant reign over the division in 2013, this is only the fourth time the Dodgers have secured the No. 1 seed in the NL. They previously did so in 2017, 2019 and 2020, winning the World Series once and reaching it twice.

The 2022 Dodgers are also looking to become the first team in franchise history to win at least 100 games and the World Series in the same year. Overall, 10 Dodgers teams have reached 100 wins in a single season.

The current 2022 MLB postseason outlook has the Dodgers due to face the winner of the Wild Card Series between the San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves. However, the Braves remain alive in a close NL East race with the New York Mets.

However it unfolds, the Dodgers host Game 1 of the NLDS at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, October 11. Game 2 is scheduled for Oct. 12, and if necessary, a Game 5 would be back at Chavez Ravine on Sunday, Oct. 16. That would come without an off day for travel between Games 4 and 5.

If the Dodgers advance to the NLCS, Game 1 at Dodger Stadium is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Also on Sunday, the Dodgers tied a franchise record with 106 wins. They set the mark in 2019 and tied it last season as well.

Dodgers magic number

Still in play for the Dodgers is the best record in baseball and securing home-field advantage through the World Series. Their magic number is four.
