Police: Woman shot to death on Rockford's Seventh Street

ROCKFORD — Police are investigating the death of a woman they say was in a vehicle early Sunday morning when she was shot.

According to police, officers responded about 1:50 a.m. Sunday to the 700 block of Seventh Street after receiving multiple Shot Spotter alerts from the area.

When officers arrived to the scene, police said they found a 32-year-old woman in a vehicle was had been shot. Police said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers also found a 33-year-old male shooting victim near Sixth Street and Eighth Avenue. The man's injury was considered not life-threatening. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

According to police, witnesses said a dark-colored sedan was seen in the area of the shooting.
