The community gathered for a prayer vigil outside of the Edmond Police Department.
After two Edmond motorcycle officer accidents, the police department said it’s been a difficult few months. Now, they and some in the community are turning to prayer during these times.
The vigil was outside of the Edmond Police Department. Police said they wanted to both support Sgt. C.J. Nelson’s family after his death and also pray for healing for Sgt. Joseph Wells.
They said all are welcome to attend in a Facebook post, getting out the message of the vigil. They also asked people to pray for the spiritual, physical and mental well-being of the entire department.
They have a pastor from a local church leading the prayers. KOCO 5 spoke with people who were there to support them.
"All motorcycle riders, it’s a brotherhood or sisterhood. One goes down, it hurts all of us. Hoping God will reach down and protect everybody, keep them safe," said Kurtis Kennedy, an Edmond resident.
