Through the first four weeks of the 2022 college football season, the top defenses are starting to be defined, as Iowa and Minnesota are among those teams. Action Network’s Brett McMurphy reported that Iowa and Minnesota are the only defenses in the FBS that have not allowed a rushing touchdown through Week 4.

Iowa (3-1) has remained a key contender for the B1G West due to its highly efficient defense. Iowa is the top-ranked scoring defense in the nation (5.8 points allowed per game). Iowa’s defense only allowed 73 rushing yards per game through the first four games.

No. 21 Minnesota (4-0) has accounted for a highly efficient defense this season. The Golden Gophers follow the Hawkeyes in the most efficient scoring defense as they ranked second in points allowed per game (6). Minnesota has only allowed 61.8 rushing yards per game through the season’s first four games.
