For the third consecutive week, Notre Dame football is not ranked in the Associated Press Poll. That comes after a span of 80 straight weeks from 2017-22 with the Fighting Irish (2-2) represented in the poll.

The Irish will play three teams ranked in the poll in the final eight games of the season. After a bye week this week, Notre Dame takes on No. 19 BYU (3-1) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Oct. 8. The Irish host No. 5 Clemson (4-0) at Notre Dame Stadium on Nov. 5 and finish the regular season at No. 6 USC (4-0) on Nov. 26.

There were 12 teams that received top 25 votes but did not appear in the poll. Notre Dame was not one of those. Future opponent Syracuse (4-0), though, received 22 votes and would be ranked No. 30 in the country if the poll stretched that far. The Irish just decidedly defeated North Carolina (3-1), 45-32, in Chapel Hill yesterday. The Tar Heels received 11 votes and would be ranked No. 33.

There aren’t any two-loss teams in the poll. There are 10 one-loss teams. A win over the ranked Cougars in a couple weeks could vault the Irish back into the poll.

The USA Today Coaches Poll has a similar look to it with a few tweaks. Syracuse is ranked No. 25. Notre Dame received three votes. Clemson and USC have the same rankings in the Coaches Poll, but BYU is No. 20 instead of No. 19.

Here is a full look at both polls.
