Police seeking driver of car that went into Seekonk River, spotted later on camera

PROVIDENCE — Police are seeking the driver of a vehicle that went off a boat ramp into the Seekonk River in Fox Point early Sunday morning.

The driver was spotted on nearby surveillance footage after the accident and the police  are seeking to make contact with him to make sure "all parties are safe and sound," a spokesman said.

The accident happened around 5:40 a.m. at the Gano Street Park boat ramp.

An unidentified female passenger was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for observation, but did not appear to have any serious injuries, according to Providence police.

By 9:30 a.m., the red Toyota Camry that went into the water had been pulled out..
