Vigil slated for victim in Charlestown murder

Charlestown Murder

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — A vigil is scheduled Sunday for the victim in Monday’s murder in Charlestown.

Sunday’s vigil will begin at 6 p.m. at the Narragansett Gazebo.

Rhode Island State Police said 45-year-old Grya Pihlkrant was found inside of a home on Biscuit City Road at about 10 a.m.

Pihlkrant had stab wounds to her chest when she was found. She was then taken to South County Hospital where she died.

Col. Darnell Weaver said that 25-year-old Alex Rolin was arrested at the home Tuesday morning.

In court Tuesday, prosecutors said Rolin was taken to the Rhode Island State Police Hope Valley Barracks, where “he eventually admitted to stabbing Ms. Pihlkrant with the black Buck knife and the description he gave was consistent with the suspected murder weapon.”
