Today's audio broadcast will be available exclusively on Ducks Stream, as it will be for the entire 2022-23 season and beyond.
Anaheim will travel a mostly younger group for its preseason opener, with today's roster including the club's top four picks in the 2022 NHL Draft. Forward Max Jones is also in the projected lineup, making his return to game action for the first time since a pectoral injury ended his season last October.
"It's their first game, they're excited and it's awesome," said head coach Dallas Eakins. "It's a good game for us coaches because you haven't been standing behind the bench in a long time. You start getting back on the bicyle and start pedaling a little bit.
"Is there a massive evaluation of our NHL guys? I'd say there's a little bit but there's more focus on our younger guys and how they're doing with an uptick in pace."
The Ducks will play seven preseason contests, three at Honda Center, and conclude their exhibition schedule with three consecutive games against the rival LA Kings.
Arizona opened its preseason slate last night with a 5-4 loss to the St. Louis Blues in Wichita. Former first-round pick Barrett Hayton scored twice for the Coyotes, while Nick Schmaltz and former Duck Nick Ritchie tallied two assists apiece.
