Two minors arrested in connection to Richfield homecoming shooting

The Richfield Police Department shared on Sunday morning that two arrests had been made in connection to the Friday night shooting at the Richfield homecoming football game.

Two minors were arrested on Saturday, but the department did not release their identities, according to a press release.

A 16-year-old who police said was a former Richfield High School student was arrested on Saturday morning in Edina. Police shared he is suspected of instigating the altercation.

A 15-year-old was arrested late Saturday night and is suspected of being the shooter. He was arrested in Richfield and currently attends the high school, police said.

Police offered an update on the victims shot, saying they are both at home and recovering in good condition.

As for the two males, police said that they are expected to have formal charges brought against them this week but are currently at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.
