Hurricane watch: Where you can get sandbags in Naples, Fort Myers region as Ian threatens

Here is where residents in Southwest Florida can get sandbags in Southwest Florida to help deal with flooding should it occur with Ian.

Fort Myers Beach

From the Fort Myers Beach website:

For those who need sand bags, there is a limited amount of sand and sand bags behind Town Hall at 2525 Estero Boulevard.  Please bring your own shovel and bags to fill, if you have them. We do have a limited supply of bags to fill also behind Town Hall and encourage everyone to take only what they think they will need.

Sanibel Island

From the City of Sanibel website:

The city’s Recycling Center has sand available for residents to bag. The Recycling Center is open today, Sunday, September 25, from 8:00am – 4:00pm. Residents must bring their own bags.

City of Fort Myers

From the City of Fort Myers website:

Sandbags: The City of Fort Myers and Lee County in general are not supporting sandbag operations.

Sandbag tips.

City of Cape Coral

From the Cape Coral Fire Department:

The City of Cape Coral does not offer sandbags. These are commercially available at home improvements stores.

Pine Island/Matlacha

Matlacha and Pine Island Fire Control District has sandbags at Station 1 at 5700 Pine Island Rd, Bokeelia.

City of Naples

On its website the City of Naples says: Please note the City does not provide sandbags.

Marco Island

From the Marco Island Police Department Facebook page:

City of Marco Island does not have sandbags available for residents.

Collier County

Sand can be found at three county parks: North Collier Regional at 15000 Livingston Road, Donna Fiala Eagles Lakes Community at 11565 U.S. 41 East and Max A. Hasse Jr. at 3390 Golden Gates Boulevard. 

More than 1,000 sandbags were premade at North Collier Regional, with more on the way. Note: There is a limit of 10 bags per person.

The other two parks have piles of sand and bags, but you must bring your own shovel or trowel to fill the bags. 

The sandbag service will be available daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., supplies and weather permitting. 

In Immokalee, sand will also be available at 415 Sgt. Joe Jones Rd. That location will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, or as long as supplies are available and weather permits.
