Maryland to Stay Local Play TPC Potomac

POTOMAC, MD - The Maryland men's golf team is returning to the fairways for its second tournament of the season for the Howard University and the University of San Francisco Collegiate Invitational this week, just 30 minutes away from College Park.

Over the two-day tournament (Sept. 26-27), the Terrapins will play the par-70 - 6,911-yard TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, designed by a quartet of architects, including the late Pete Dye, Tom Fazio, former Maryland standout, head coach, and Hall of Famer Fred Funk, and PGA TOUR legend Davis Love III. The layout has hosted multiple professional golf events, including the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA TOUR.

The tournament will consist of 54-holes of play (36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start) and 18 holes (split tee times) on Tuesday) beginning at 8:30 a.m. on day one and 7:30 a.m. on day two.

The squad will be led by senior and Maryland's own Will Koras of Lutherville, Md., senior Dillon Brown of Halifax, Ma, freshman Ronnie Kim of Olney, Md., freshman Armand Papaziani of Mougins, France, and freshman Constantin Mons of Hamburg, Germany will make his collegiate debut for the Terps. Senior Will Celiberti of Ridgewood, NJ, will be competing in the tournament as an individual.

"We are looking forward to competing so close to home this week," said head coach John Phillips. "This is the first time we have competed in the DMV in several years. TPC Potomac is a great venue, which has hosted several professional events, including the Wells Fargo Championship this past May. Competing on such a renowned golf course will be a great test and a wonderful experience for our players."

Participants in the invitational co-host Howard University and the University of San Francisco. Others include: VCU, George Washington University, Georgetown, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, and Towson.
