Massachusetts man arrested for DWI after crash on I-95 in Seabrook, investigators say
A Massachusetts man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a crash Saturday night on I-95 in Seabrook, according to authorities.
New Hampshire State Police said around 8:40 p.m., troopers and emergency personnel responded to a report of a crash on I-95 involving two vehicles, one that reportedly rolled over.
When troopers arrived, they found a 2013 Mazda driven by Guilherme Faxina, 22, of Chelsea, Massachusetts.
State police said witnesses advised that the Mazda was traveling at an excessive rate of speed when it rear-ended a 2013 Acura TL. The Mazda rolled over into the woods.
The driver and passenger in the Mazda were taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for injuries. The occupants in the Acura left the scene uninjured, state police said.
Three lanes of I-95 were closed for about two hours and after the investigation, troopers arrested Faxina for driving while intoxicated, state police said.
The crash remains under investigation but state police said speed and alcohol appear to be factors.
New Hampshire State Police Captain Chris Vetter said crashes like this are preventable if people slow down and do not drive impaired.
"The message is the same as it's been: drive slow, follow the speed limits, don't drive impaired, don't drive distracted, wear your seatbelts and be aware of your surroundings," Vetter said.
