Man Rescued After Jumping in Water at WaterFire Saturday Night in Providence

Providence police assisted with rescuing a man who jumped in the Woonasquatucket River during WaterFire.
About Incident
Police were called to Waterplace Restaurant Saturday night to assist with WaterFire detail with a man who was hanging from the pier.

Police say the man then jumped out of the boat and tried to swim away.
Authorities made several attempts to get the man back into the boat and were able to return him to the pier.
According to police, the man appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for evaluation.
