Jonesboro volleyball tourney ends with MH, Flippin in semifinals

Mountain Home was among three area schools competing in the Ron and Pat Carmack High School Volleyball Playday Saturday in Jonesboro.

The Lady Bombers began the day by winning three matches in Pool E. Mountain Home topped Conway’s junior varsity team 25-15 and 25-23, Harrisburg 25-8 and 25-11 and Batesville 25-20 and 25-21.

In Pool A, Flippin lost to West Memphis 25-16 and 25-11 and to Jonesboro 25-11 and 25-13. The Lady Bobcats defeated Senath-Hornersville from Missouri 25-15 and 25-23.

Salem lost three matches in Pool F. The Lady Greyhounds fell to Dyer County from Tennessee 25-12 and 25-11, to Wynne 25-6 and 25-10 and to Hoxie 25-17 and 25-18.

Mountain Home advanced to the Gold Bracket and had mixed results. The Lady Bombers defeated Dyer County in straight sets with scores of 25-23 and 27-25. Carson Schmitz led Mountain Home with 10 kills, 14 assists and five digs; Lindsay Jensen had eight kills, 10 assists and six digs; Addison Martz recorded nine digs; and Ali Czanstkowski added seven digs.

Mountain Home ended the day with a three-set loss in the semifinals after Cabot posted scores of 25-23, 16-25 and 17-15. The Lady Bombers were led by Schmitz with 10 kills and 15 assists; Jensen finished with seven kills, 22 assists and nine digs; Anna McCarn and Emma Wilber each had eight kills and four blocks; Martz ended up with 11 digs; and Czanstkowski added nine digs.

Flippin and Salem both competed in the Bronze Bracket. In the first round, the Lady Bobcats defeated Harrisburg, and the Lady Greyhounds fell to Kennett, Missouri. Flippin lost in the semifinals to Jonesboro’s junior varsity team.
