Easton hosts 2022 First Flag Over the United Colonies Band Festival (PHOTOS)

Area high school marching bands converged Saturday night on Easton’s Cottingham Stadium for the 48th year of the First Flag Over the United Colonies Band Festival.

The Easton Area High School Instrumental Music Association hosts the friendly competition to showcase the talent and skills of participating marching bands.

The festival commemorates the first American flag, which had 13 stars and 13 stripes and was flown on July 8, 1776, in Easton.

This year marching bands from Saucon Valley, Pocono Mountain East, Pocono Mountain West, Wilson Area, East Stroudsburg South, Tamaqua and Pennsbury high schools participated.

The night was kicked off with a performance by the Easton Area Middle School.

Awards were handed out after the final performance of the night by the Easton Area Red Rover marching band in exhibition.

Saucon Valley earned an overall rating of outstanding.

Pocono Mountain East earned an overall rating of superior.

Pocono Mountain West earned an overall rating of excellent.

Wilson Area earned an overall rating of outstanding.

East Stroudsburg South earned an overall rating of excellent.

Tamaqua earned an overall rating of outstanding.

Pennsbury earned an overall rating of outstanding.
