Residents have until Oct. 17 to file taxes to receive the rebates, with specific amounts being given based upon filing and dependents. Individual filers making less than $200,000 will receive a $50 rebate, and couples making less than $400,000 will receive $100.

Filers can receive an additional $100 per dependent for a maximum of three, if applicable.

Illinoisans with an income “less than $250,000 individually or $500,000” jointly, who also paid 2021 property taxes on their primary residence, will receive up to an additional $300, according to a press release from the Illinois Senate Democrats.

Rebates provided by the government “will be equal to the property tax a resident was qualified to claim on their 2021 taxes,” the release states.
